cytologic feature observed in sarcomatoid mesothelioma . While the name and cytomorphology suggest
that these cells are transitioning or are halfway between epithelioid and sarcomatoid mesothelioma,
[18]
transitional mesotheliomas are more similar to the sarcomatoid subtype genomically . Given their
genomic relatedness to sarcomatoid mesothelioma, it is not surprising that transitional mesothelioma is also
associated with a worse prognosis, in line with what has been reported in sarcomatoid mesothelioma [18,19] .
