Mr. Kasra Shaikhrezai, MD, MSc, MRCS, FETCS, FRCS (C-Th), is a newly appointed consultant cardiac surgeon
with a keen interest in mitral valve surgery. He finished his undergraduate degree in Kermanshah University of
Medical Sciences and then worked at Harefield Hospital as a Senior House Officer. It was during this rotation he
decided he would embark on a career in cardiac surgery. He underwent the Scottish National Training programme
and served as the Scottish Trainee representative. He completed his MSc in advanced surgical practice in 2013
while working full time. He underwent a minimally invasive mitral valve and AF ablation fellowship at the Northern
General Hospital in Sheffield in 2015 before his current appointment as of August 2017. He is also a clinical
lecturer at the University of Glasgow. Outside medicine, his interests include travelling and cinematography.
