Special Issue introduction

           Partial nephrectomy is widely considered the gold standard for managing small renal masses. Current European
           and American guidelines recommend partial nephrectomy for the treatment of T1 lesions. However, a growing
           body of studies is exploring its potential application for larger and more complex lesions. This expanded
           indication has been made possible by advancements in surgical technology, particularly the adoption of robotic
           systems. The growing use of Robotic-Assisted Partial Nephrectomy (RAPN) has introduced new surgical
           possibilities and broadened clinical indications. In this Special Issue, we aim to highlight the most significant
           developments in this technique, with a focus on the following topics:

           1. Selection of the surgical approach: transperitoneal, retroperitoneal, etc.;
           2. Strategies for minimizing complications during surgery;
           3. Techniques for renal reconstruction after tumor removal;
           4. Comparison of the outcomes of RAPN with traditional open partial nephrectomy;
           5. Renorrhaphy techniques and their impact on postoperative renal function in robotic partial nephrectomy;
           6. Application of new techniques in robotic partial nephrectomy, e.g., augmented reality (AR), 3D printing, etc.
           7. Use of RAPN in high-risk patients, with a focus on the elderly.
