Dr. Michele Marchioni is an esteemed Italian urologist and
Associate Professor at the University of G. d’Annunzio in
Chieti–Pescara, Italy, where he is affiliated with the
Department of Medical, Oral, and Biotechnological Sciences.
He also serves as a medical director at the “SS. Annunziata” Hospital in Chieti, Italy. Dr.
Marchioni earned his medical degree and specialization in urology with honors from the
University of G. d’Annunzio. In 2017, he completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in onco-
epidemiology and evaluation research at the University of Montreal under the mentorship of
Professor Pierre I. Karakiewicz. He subsequently obtained a Ph.D. in Biomolecular and
Pharmaceutical Sciences from the same university.
His clinical practice focuses on urologic oncology, particularly kidney cancer, utilizing
minimally invasive and endoscopic surgical techniques. Dr. Marchioni is actively involved
in research, having authored approximately 180 scientific publications in leading urology
journals. His contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the “Matula
Italian Award” in 2024, which honors outstanding young Italian urologists.
In addition to his clinical and research activities, Dr. Marchioni is dedicated to medical
education. He teaches courses in medicine, nursing, and various specialized schools. He is also
a member of the editorial board of the Archivio Italiano di Urologia e Andrologia.
Dr. Marchioni's commitment to advancing urological science is further exemplified by his
participation in international research initiatives. Notably, in 2022, he took part in a high-altitude
research mission at the Pyramid Laboratory near Everest Base Camp in Nepal, studying the
effects of hypoxia on urinary physiology.
