Editorial Foreword

Cancer drug resistance remains one of the most significant challenges in oncology, limiting
the efficacy of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and combination treatments.
Tumor heterogeneity and the dynamic tumor microenvironment further complicate therapeutic

outcomes, often leading to disease progression and reduced patient survival.

Precision medicine offers transformative opportunities to address these challenges by
integrating multi-omics technologies, advanced imaging, and computational modeling to

uncover resistance mechanisms and identify actionable therapeutic targets. In parallel,
emerging drug delivery systems, particularly micro- and nanomaterial-based platforms,
provide innovative approaches to enhance drug targeting, improve bioavailability, and
overcome physiological barriers within the tumor microenvironment.

This Special Topic brings together a collection of high-quality reviews and original research
articles that explore novel mechanisms of drug resistance, precision-targeted therapeutic
strategies, and cutting-edge technological advances in cancer research. Collectively, these

contributions aim to deepen our understanding of resistance biology and accelerate the
translation of precision medicine strategies into clinical practice.

The Editorial Office sincerely thanks all contributing authors, reviewers, and readers for
their support. We extend our deepest appreciation to the Guest Editors, Prof. Juyoung

Yoon and Prof. Jianliang Shen, for their scientific leadership and dedication in shaping this
Special Topic. In particular, we acknowledge Prof. Jianliang Shen for initiating and leading
the development of this Special Topic.
