              Guest Editor 2: Prof. Gdossein Hossein Almassi


                                         Prof.  Gdossein  Hossein  Almassi  is  currently  affiliated  with  Zablocki  VA  Medical
                                         Center in Milwaukee. He has a distinguished background in medical education and
                                         training. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Pahlavi University School
                                         of Medicine in Shiraz in 1976. Subsequently, he pursued his medical training through
                                         several residencies, including at the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL (1979-1980),
                                         the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago in Chicago, IL (1981-1984),
                                         and the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in Milwaukee, WI (1984-
                                         1986).

                                         His primary expertise lies in various areas of adult cardiac surgery, making significant
                                         contributions to the field. Prof. Almassi’s focus areas include the MAZE Procedure for
                                         Atrial Fibrillation, Mitral Valve Repair, Thoracic Aortic Surgery, Aortic Valve Repair
                                         and Replacement, and Arrhythmia Surgery.

                                         Prof. Almassi’s contributions to medicine have earned him recognition, and he has
                                         been honored as one of the Best Doctors in America®.

                                         Prof. Thomas V. Bilfinger holds a distinguished position within the Department of
                                         Surgery at SUNY, Stony Brook, New York, NY, United States. With an MD from the
                                         University of Zürich in 1978 and a ScD (Doctor of Science) from the same university
                                         in 1979, his educational foundation is strong. He supplemented this with rigorous
                                         training, encompassing general surgery residencies at the University of Chicago and
                                         the University of Texas Medical Branch.

                                         Prof. Bilfinger’s vast research interests reflect his expertise across numerous domains,
                                         including aortic aneurysm surgery, coronary artery disease, lung cancer, minimally
                                         invasive surgery, and more. His  contributions  have garnered recognition, earning
                                         him a place in the Castle Connolly Guide’s Top Doctors: New York Metro Area,
                                         and  inclusion  in  the  “Best  Doctors”  listing  of  New  York  Magazine,  representing
                                         the top 2% of physicians in the New York Metropolitan area. Prof. Bilfinger’s broad
