Availability of data and materials
All patient records and data were extracted from 2005-2018 SPARCS Database. Due to contractual
limitations (i.e., concerns regarding patient records being re-identified) in the Stony Brook University data
use agreement, no reports could contain cells that had lower than 10 events; thus, only percentages were
reported in [Tables 1-3].
Financial support and sponsorship
This study was supported by the Stony Brook Renaissance School of Medicine Department of Medicine
small grant (led by Dr. Puja B. Parikh and Dr. A. Laurie Shroyer) and the Division of Cardiothoracic
surgery General T.F. Cheng endowment led by Dr. Henry J. Tannous.
