Prof. Francesco Porpiglia is director of the Integrated
Structure of Struttura Complessa a Direzione Universitaria
(S.C.D.U.) and head of robotic surgery activities at the
same university hospital. He is also in charge of the
Department of Internal Urology and laparoscopy at the
Italian Society of Urology (SIU). Prof. Porpiglia’s area of
expertise covers all aspects of urology, from diagnosis
(mostly ultrasound) to major surgery. Particularly, he is
involved in the introduction and development of minimally
invasive procedures in urology, primarily endoscopic,
laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Prof. Francesco Porpiglia
has performed more than 3,000 laparoscopic and robotic
surgeries on all urinary and adrenal system diseases.
In recent years, he has been mainly dedicated to the
minimally invasive treatment of renal cell carcinoma.
