Dr. Ghulam Abbas

                                            Dr. Ghulam Abbas is an internationally recognized robotic thoracic
                                            surgeon, specializing in high-risk patients with locally advanced lung
                                            and esophageal cancers. He currently serves as the Cancer Services
                                            Director for CAMC Vandalia Health South Region.

                                            He previously served as Chief of Thoracic and Esophageal Surgery at

           the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute and Director of Surgical Thoracic Oncology at the WVU Cancer
           Institute. Prior to joining WVU, Dr. Abbas completed his residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center
           and his fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Rush University Medical Center. He then received advanced
           training in minimally invasive lung and esophageal surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center
           and earned a master’s degree in healthcare management from Harvard University in 2013.


           Dr. Abbas is board certified in thoracic surgery and is the author of numerous peer-reviewed scientific
           articles and book chapters. He has been invited to speak at multiple international conferences on lung and
           esophageal cancer. He is a member of several scientific and professional societies, including the Society
           of Robotic Surgery, the Society of Thoracic Surgery, the International Society of Minimally Invasive
           Cardiothoracic Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the General Thoracic Surgical Club, and the
           European Society of Thoracic Surgery.


           Clinical and research expertise of Dr. Abbas includes:

           Robotic thoracic surgery
           Management of high-risk patients with lung and esophageal cancer
           Surgical treatment of benign and malignant esophageal diseases, including Barrett’s Esophagus, esophageal
           cancer, achalasia, hiatal hernia, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
