Special Issue introduction

This collection brings together pioneering research and expert insights that reflect the evolving
landscape of minimally invasive liver surgery (MILS), focusing on advanced techniques, robotic
integration, and strategic innovations aimed at improving patient outcomes.

Over recent decades, MILS has transitioned from a novel approach to a standard practice in

hepatobiliary surgery. This evolution is driven by technological advancements, refined surgical
techniques, and a growing body of evidence supporting its safety and efficacy. The integration of
robotic systems and enhanced imaging modalities has further expanded the capabilities of MILS,
allowing for more precise and less invasive procedures.

This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of MILS, offering
practical guidance and sharing experiences from leading experts in the field. By highlighting
innovative strategies and technical refinements, the collection seeks to inform and inspire continued
progress in minimally invasive approaches to liver surgery.
