ABOUT THE SPECIAL ISSUE EDITORS
Aamir Ahmad, PhD, is a Senior Scientist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham,
Birmingham, Alabama, USA. His research interests include understanding the
mechanisms of cancer drug resistance and metastasis in different cancers, with emphasis
on the role of microRNAs, non-coding RNAs, epigenetics, exosomes, cancer stem cells
and the tumor immune microenvironment. He has authored more than 166 scientific
research/review articles, 28 book chapters, edited/co-edited 8 books and his work has
been cited more than 11500 times. He is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of journal “Non-
coding RNA Research” and serves as a Cancer Section Editor for journal “Scientific
Reports”. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of Elsevier series ‘Cancer Metastasis’.
Additionally, he serves as Expert Reviewer for scientific proposals submitted to 8
different funding agencies in Europe, Asia and Africa.
