delivered nearly 700 invited lectures at universities and academic institutions
across Europe, the United States, Japan, China, and other countries. He
is a member of 29 academies and learned societies, including the French
National Academy of Surgery, the French National Academy of Medicine,
and the French National Academy of Technologies.
In recognition of his contributions to surgery, including advances in
minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, and medical innovation,
Professor Marescaux has received numerous national and international
distinctions. In 2019, he was appointed Commander of the French National
Order of the Legion of Honor, one of the highest national distinctions of the
French Republic.
Professor Marescaux's work, along with IRCAD’s international development,
has contributed substantially to the evolution of modern surgery. By
bringing together surgical science, computer science, artificial intelligence,
robotics, medical education, and digital technologies, he has helped establish
an interdisciplinary framework for the continued development of intelligent,
technology-enabled surgery and has played an important role in shaping the
future of surgical innovation.
