Professor Jacques Marescaux is the Founding President of the Institute of
Research Against Digestive Cancer (IRCAD) in Strasbourg, France. Under
his leadership, IRCAD has developed a distinctive model that integrates

surgical education, biomedical research, technological innovation, and
clinical expertise, making significant contributions to the advancement of
surgery in an increasingly digital and technology-driven era.

Since its establishment, IRCAD has been at the forefront of research and
innovation in minimally invasive, robotic, and remote surgery. Among its
most notable achievements is the Lindbergh Operation, which was performed

in 2001. In this landmark procedure, a surgical team in New York remotely
operated on a patient in Strasbourg, France. The operation demonstrated the
feasibility of transcontinental robotic surgery and marked a major milestone
in the development of telesurgery, highlighting the potential of advanced
technologies to overcome geographical barriers in the delivery of surgical
                                  care.

Professor Marescaux has also demonstrated a strong commitment to the
global dissemination of surgical knowledge and education. In 2000, he

initiated WebSurg, a freely accessible online virtual university dedicated
to minimally invasive surgery. Through its extensive collection of surgical
videos and educational resources, WebSurg faciliates the international
exchange of surgical knowledge, expertise, and best practices and has
reached hundreds of thousands of surgeons worldwide.

Throughout his 29-year academic and professional career, Professor

Marescaux and his teams have contributed to more than 4,000 scientific
publications and communications at national and international levels. He has
