Topic: Advancements in Cerebral
Cavernous Malformations
Dr. Zhang earned his ScD (Doctor of Science) from Academia Sinica Beijing
(Chinese Academy of Sciences, CAS) and PhD in Biochemistry & Molecular
Biology (BMB) from the University of Florida, and then trained with fellowship
in Human Molecular Genetics at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI)/
Johns Hopkins McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine. He has been
dedicated his research efforts to the understanding of molecular genetics in
neurovascular diseases, molecular angiogenesis in vascular disorders and
tumorigenesis, Phospho Tyrosine Binding (PTB)/PH/FERM domains, CCM
signaling complex (CSC) and its relationship with sex steroids (CmPn/CmP
signaling network), and pharmacological and pathogenesis of cerebral cavernous
malformations (CCMs). He is currently serving as a member of several grant
review panels and a member of the editorial board for several vascular/genetic
journals, including Vessel Plus.
