Topic: Tissue Engineering for the
Repair of Peripheral Nerve Injury
Dr. Joseph M. Rosen is a professor of surgery and radiology at the Geisel
School of Medicine, Dartmouth. Dr. Rosen specializes in the enhancement of
appearance; improving aesthetics, symmetry, and proportion are key goals in
cosmetic surgery. His research interests include nerve repair and human-machine
interfaces, microsurgery and transplantation of limbs, computer-aided surgery,
virtual reality simulators and methods of education, telemedicine and informatics,
as well as healthcare delivery for medical disasters and countermeasures for bio-
terrorism.
Dr. Rosen received a BA in Biology from Cornell University in 1974 and an MD
from Stanford University School of Medicine in 1978. He is board certified in
Plastic Surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Rosen’s extensive
training and experience have equipped him with a wealth of knowledge and skills
that he has applied throughout his career to advance the field of medicine.
