Dr. Rajveer Purohit is the Director of Reconstructive
Urology and Associate Professor of Urology at The
Mount Sinai Hospital. He has performed over 1,000
complex reconstructive surgical procedures including
urethroplasty for urethral strictures, repair of fistula,
and gender affirming surgery including vaginoplasty,
metoidioplasty and phalloplasty. He offers a variety
of techniques for these gender affirming surgeries.
He earned his medical degree (MD) from Columbia
University before completing his surgical internship
and urology residency at the University of California
in San Francisco. While there he trained with one of
the pioneers of male urethral reconstruction and then

New York, NY, USA. reconstruction and gender affirming surgery and has
co-authored a textbook on voiding dysfunction and is
currently working on a second textbook on techniques
in gender affirming surgery. In addition, he has served
as a reviewer for multiple urological journals. He has
been chosen by his colleagues for inclusion in Castle
Connolly’s Best Doctors and listed in New York
Magazine’s Best Doctors in New York City. Dr. Purohit
is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology and a
member of the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive
Surgeons (GURS), the World Professional Association
for Transgender Health (WPATH), and the American
Urological Association.
