Dr. Matthew Iorio is an Associate Professor, Co-Director
of Hand Surgery, Co-Director of Extremity Microsurgical
Reconstruction, and Co-Director of the Wound Care
Program at the University of Colorado Hospital,
Anschutz Medical Campus in the Division of Plastic and
Reconstructive Surgery, Aurora, Colorado, USA.
Dr. Matthew Iorio graduated with honors from Georgetown
University School of Medicine in 2007. He completed
a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at
Georgetown University Hospital, as well as a fellowship

Associate Professor, Co-Director Washington. He is an active member in the American
of Hand Surgery, Co-Director Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), the American
of Extremity Microsurgical Association for Hand Surgery (AAHS), American Society
Reconstruction, Division of Plastic for Reconstructive Microsurgery (ASRM), the American
and Reconstructive Surgery, Council of Academic Plastic Surgeons (ACAPS), and the
University of Colorado Hospital, Italian Society for Surgery of the Hand (SICM).

He is involved in ongoing trainee and practitioner education,
as well as a “Young Leader” within the American Society
for Surgery of the Hand. He has authored over 100 peer-
reviewed publications and chapters.
His ongoing focus for clinical research is based in
extremity microsurgery, including limb salvage techniques
and outcomes, targeted muscle reinnervation, and hand
reconstruction.
