Dr. Marc Jeschke is an internationally recognized expert
in translational burn research. He is particularly known for
seamlessly integrating basic and clinical science, effectively
bridging the gap between laboratory discoveries and patient
care. Since 2010, he has led the Ross Tilley Burn Centre at
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, transforming it into
one of North America’s top institutions for burn care. In
recognition of his scientific leadership and contributions to the
field, Dr. Jeschke was elected President of the Shock Society
in 2019 - the first physician from a Canadian hospital to hold
this prestigious role. His research primarily focuses on the
biological and clinical challenges faced by older burn patients,
investigating how severe burns accelerate aging by impairing
tissue repair mechanisms, immune function, and metabolic
processes. Through his work, Dr. Jeschke aims to identify
novel therapeutic targets that can improve recovery outcomes
and mitigate the effects of trauma-induced accelerated aging.
