Special Issue Introduction
Percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) was rstly
established for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation. Because
of its minimally invasiveness, PELD has also been applied to other
spinal diseases, such as spinal canal stenosis and cervical
radiculopathy. On the basis of this, highly sophisticated
operative skills are required when operating PELD. Therefore, we
have to establish the training system of PELD to guarantee the
safety of operations. In this special issue, we provided not only
technical aspects of PELD, but also essential anatomical
knowledge, knowledge for the appropriate operative
indication, and the training system. We hope this special issue
can help to facilitate the introduction and the safely
disseminating of PELD.
